Gerardo Arcangelo Pacillo
Gerardo Arcangelo Pacillo (Benevento, 1991) is an Italian architect, computational designer, technologist and researcher with an experience in computational design and 3D modeling, robotic, additive manufacturing and digital fabrication.
He growing up with a particular interest for structural design, building materials and technology. He studied architecture at the University of Florence graduated with an research thesis in “Additive Manufacturing and Shape Memory Alloys in Architecture”, studying a new innovative smart façade device. He subsequently continued his studies with an International PhD from the University of Florence and ITE of Braunschweig investigating on topic “Additive Manufacturing of Smart Building Components and Smart Structure”, where he developed a new concepts, technologies, materials and construction process for AEC industry.
During studies, he worked such consultant architect and technologist expert to develop di new technological solutions of manufacturing for construction industry, new building materials and new design solutions for several international company and studios.
In 2021, Gerardo Pacillo founded his studio based in Benevento and Florence, starting to design his first projects in Italy and Europe. His approach is a continue research on relationship between architecture and structure, nature and materials, technology and new methods of advanced design.
The design approach is based on “Learning by doing” and “Total Design”. The goal is to explore new fields of architecture and structural engineering applying of new digital technologies together methods of computational design with the use and combination of “new and traditional” materials. His works includes computational design, 3D printing, additive manufacturing, digital construction, robotic and CNC milling, AI, 3D modeling and virtual reality.
His projects range from urban, architecture and engineering scale to interior design and industrial design, installations, the creation of concepts, graphics and art. All projects are a new research topic to study new design and structural concepts and new technologies of fabrication and manufacturing.
